The Ultimate Clear Wood Finish

Maple, Oak, Poplar and Pine Wood Plank TufShield™ test

Here are the results of the second set of wood samples coated with the TufShield™ clear wood finishing system. If you've already viewed the previous blog entry where we coated darker woods like red and white cedar, you can clearly see the results. The pictures you see to the left have more subtle results in terms of coloration as we used lighter coloured woods for this test. From left to right, the four wood samples are: maple, oak, poplar and pine. The TufShield™ system-coated half of the wood is at the top end, the untreated part is at the bottom.

Alhough the coloration is slightly lighter, the results are the same: each piece of wood was coated with a standard application of 4 coats of Base Coat and 2 coats of Top Coat Satin, capable of protecting the wood permanently depending on the weather conditions. Generally speaking, light sanding once every 1-2 years and reapplication of #2 Top Coat will restore the initial appearance that might have been adversely affected by weather conditions that the wood faced.

Next, we're going to coat some exotic woods like mahogany, teak and iroko...Stay tuned!
